So Nicole Murphy went to the Wendy Williams Show yesterday to publicly apologize for kissing married man, film director Antoine Fuqua, who has been married to actress Lela Rochon since 1999.
In case you don’t know, Nicole Murphy is a model, entrepreneur, and the ex-wife of the legendary comedian Eddie Murphy. She was married to him from 1993 to 2006 and has multiple children with him. She’s 51 years old but looks fabulously 30.
Anyways…Nicole was photographed a couple of times kissing Fuqua one weekend in July while vacationing in Italy. She says she was there for business and he was there for the film festival, but the images captured depicts the two in a cozy, romantic way. She initially said they were just ‘family friends’ and had simply exchanged a ‘friendly peck’ to say hello.
“It was not my intention to be in this situation. I do not condone women kissing or interacting in anyway inappropriately with a married man,” Said Nicole. “I too was once married and I would never intentionally undermine another woman, despite what has been written.” She also stated that she was under the impression that the marriage was over.
Now, I don’t condone anyone having relations with married individuals, but I do think that Nicole was a very brave woman to sit on Wendy’s purple couch in front of the world to apologize for a mistake she had made. It was very clear that Wendy wasn’t falling for Nicole’s truth, but the conversation was very light-hearted and Nicole answered every question even though they were uncomfortable. It takes a strong, confident woman to do what she did, because she was dragged horribly in the media when the photos came out. She owned her mistakes, and still faced the world. There were other women who stated that she has a history of having relations with married men, but I don’t know Nicole Murphy personally so I can’t speak on that.
She has admitted that she made a mistake, she regrets it, she’s apologized to the families, and she hopes to move forward. I think everyone deserves a second chance, and who are we to judge? None of us are perfect, but when you’re living your life in the spotlight, YOU HAVE TO BE VERY VERY CAUTIOUS! Someone is ALWAYS watching.
